Time Capsule & iPhone Hotspot & Airport Express
Hi all
I know this isn't a new question, but here goes for a newbie to the support community, who has 'almost' found a solution combing old and new Apple tech.
I want to utilise my 4g mobile hotspot on iPhone X to run my MacBook Pro, Sky Box, Ps4 & hopefully backup with my Time Capsule. Having tested it seems fine with the data allowance for Sky & Ps4 and I'm impressed to see no connection / lag issues even with NAT 3 settings on the ps4 during gaming (Fortnight etc)
However, i am looking for a solution for the Time Capsule. I thought i may be able to utilise Airport Express to access the iPhone hotspot network and then hard wire the Express to the Time capsule as some kind of bridge?
However, my Airport Express units are the old type so are not supported by current Airport Utility. Fear not !! I now have Airport 5.6.1. running on High Sierra and am able to access the Airport Express units. However I cannot make them see the Hotspot network.
I guess my long winded question is. Can I get old Airport Express units to access iPhone mobile hotspot and then be connected to the Time Capsule by cable and thus allow Time machine to work as normal. Thus , no need for a stand alone Virgin broadband as they want to put my bill up by 50%!!
Many many thanks
