Streaming Movies on Apple TV 3rd Gen.

I am not able to get the best internet where I am so I am using an ATT LTE home internet solution. IT actually works good, we can stream videos on multiple devices, download at decent speeds, etc. Everything is working great on all iPads, computers, etc. The exception is my apple TV 3rd Gen. It streams movies from Netflix fine but movies from iTunes make me wait about an hour for a 2 hour movie to watch and 20 minutes for an hour show ie: buffering. I do have it set to load SD content. Im wondering if the apple tv or older models of apple TV don't downgrade quality on sl? Keep in mind my iPads (i have 3) all load the iTunes content almost instantly.

Apple TV is a streaming only device, Netflix adapts to the connection but iTunes content is at a fixed rate and needs to cache a portion before playback begins. For 1080P HD content you need at least 8mbps.

The alternative is to downgrade to SD or download to your iPad/computer and use airplay

The iPads are not streaming, it is downloading the content to your device. The Apple TV doesn't store media so it temporarily caches it while you watch.

Depending on what speed you have, if there are other network issues they would be a factor as well and coupling that with the lower speed it will take time for Apple TV to load (it does this in order to try and avoid buffering during viewing)
