SanDisk 32GB ultra flair usb 3.0 flash drive will not be recognized after plugging into USB port in iMac27 June 2017 running macOS Sierra version 10.12.6
[but will open in iMac 24 2007 running OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6].
Any ideas?

Someone else suggested that I leave flash drive plugged while restarting computer. This worked. Sorry, I failed to write down the name to give the well deserved credit for this.

Ok ... Go to Finder > Preferences then select the General tab then make sure External disks is selected.
That's ok ... actually your post will probably help others as well.
