Disable sending/receiving of pic/ videos on iMessage

I am trying to disable the sending and receiving of picture and videos in iMessage for a child. I don't want to completely disable iMessage, if at all possible. I have blocked the MMS picture/video messaging with our carrier, but their disclaimer stated that it would not block within iMessage.
