Dear Apple, I didn’t know you were in charge of US holidays!?

************

I see you’ve chosen to omit Easter and all holidays relating to Easter.

I guess I was just uninformed that Apple was now officially in charge of the United States Holidays.

Make sure you update the government please because it seems they still are under the impression Easter is a national holiday...when CLEARLY it Shows in iPhone calendars that it’s not. I mean I have “U.S holidays” checked. But my calendar isn’t showing Easter... so obviously that means you guys get to dictate what we celebrate now.

I don’t think the Muslim holidays are official US holidays either are they

As there is no such thing as an "official U.S. Holiday", technically, you're correct. Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day, Labor Day, they're also not official U.S. Holidays. However, like Muslim holidays, Jewish holidays, Hindu holidays, they ARE holidays celebrated by official U.S. Citizens.

Actually you are incorrect. US holidays ( someone else’s words not mine ) would be synonymous with Federal

( meaning the US government ) holidays that’s applyknly to the US. like

Independence Day

Veterans Day

Labor Day

Memorial Day

I was merely wanting to find out how to remove holidays, Muslim or otherwise, that don’t concern or pertain to me.

Why does not being interested in a religious holiday that doesn’t pertain to you mean you have prejudices or aren’t interested in the “ diversity “ in the US? Could it be that while we may be aware of that diversity we aren’t interested in it because it doesn’t concern or pertain tonus personally

I didn't say you were prejudiced or had a lack of interest in diversity. If that's what you inferred from reading my response, you might need to consider why it made you defensive. We usually get defensive when we know we're wrong and are too ashamed or frightened to admit it.

You know what? You are correct. At no time did you ask how to remove other holidays because they offended you. You just wanted to know how to do so.

It's been a quick reaction of long-time members (including myself) here in this, and other similar topics to assume the user is being a jerk. That because up until your question, every single one has been. This topic has had numerous posts removed by people who made it quite clear they were prejudiced.

The simple answer is, as you've seen, to turn off Apple's default calendar and either subscribe to one that suites your needs, or create your own.

As an aside, no, there are no Federal holidays. Not in the sense that every person in the U.S. is included. Such as this list, the days off pertain only to federal employees. Basically, that list is the same as if you worked at 3M, Target or wherever, and they hand their employees a list of which calendar days will be paid time off. That list pertains to no one other than the employees of that business.

I neither accused you of saying any thing nor did I become defensive. Your response to someone else’s comment inferred that he/she should pick a calendar that suits their prejudices if recognizing the amazing diversity in the US is a problem for them; your words not mine. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to get back to enjoying my weekend. Have a great day

Federal holidays are not only recognized by federal employees as we all known. It is true that less people are recognizing it and allowing their employees a break to celebrate for whatever cause. They rather see it as an opportunity to rake in dollars. Many people still

Do recognize those holidays out of tradition and have 3 day weekends. I really only wanted to find outbid I could customize my calendar. No I know

Of course not. The point was just because the business you work at happens to give you the same day off as a federal employee, it does not make it a “federal” holiday for everyone. No business anywhere is required to give you any days off with pay. None. Not unless they have a labor contract they have to follow that states which days employees receive as paid holidays.

Weekends off, paid holidays, vacation time, etc. are all things most workers now take for granted. But these are all things fought for by unions. While unions aren’t anywhere near as strong as they used to be, these perks continue on as a way to attract valuable, skilled employees. If you don’t offer similar perks, your prospective candidate will go somewhere else.

I'm not sure why you felt that what I said to someone else applies to you. You may want to think about why you're so quick to do that.
