It depends on the place you take it and the reason you’re asking for service; they’re not obligated to honor the warranty and may not be able to replace it with an unit that’s functionally identical to the original.

By warranty I mean the purchased AppleCare + protection plan. If purchased in the US would it be valid in Canada.
As with the warranty, ask the people at the repair shop.
