is It the screen or screen protector?

I have an iPhone X with case and screen protector. I take my phone out of my pocket and noticed a clean line across the phone. No shatter, no other breaks. Didn’t drop the phone.

Hmm, the only way to know for sure is to remove the screen protector.

Note: this will probably require that you get a new screen protector.

No.

Run your fingernail across the apparent crack---if it is the screen protector, you can feel a "step" in the surface.

FYI Belkin has blundered on the last few generations of iphone glass screen protectors by making them so thin that they basically crack on their own, but they only admit it for the iphone X as far as I know. There is a recall on this, but Apple stores vary in accepting responsibility. Some say will fix; some say contact Belkin.
