After updating to OS X 10.13.3 the keyboard no longer stops the screensaver. So I checked what version of firmware it is running and found 3 instances of it, none for the mac mini.
The latest firmware I could find for mac mini is 1.8, labeled for the late 2012 mac mini. So I am not sure if that's what I want to install.
Any suggestions what to do?

1. Go to: Apple > System Preferences > Bluetooth > Advanced > check "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer"

Do nothing.
1. If your Mac Mini's needs a Firmware updating, then Apple will automatically installs it thru an App Store update.

2. To check your current firmware version, go to: Apple > About This Mac and select System Report.
if your firmware version is later than MM71.0220.B06 then again, there is nothing for you to do.....

Hmm, your right about the keyboard is not stopping the screensaver!
To be honest I never gave it much thought before, because I have always used the mouse to deactivate the screensaver and wake my Mac's.
If you were able to use the keyboard before 10.13.3 and you did the SMC and NVRAM resets that I posted above..?
Then try installing the > Download macOS High Sierra 10.13.3 Combo Update over the top of the current 10.13.3 App Store update to see if that fixes the problem.

Not waking from sleep is not the problem. Stopping the screensaver by pressing any key is. It just won't do it. I have to click and move the mouse to get that done. The mouse, btw, is Bluetooth, the keyboard is USB.
Installed the 10.13.3 combo without solving the problem. Instead, there's another problem now. Starting up with P+R+Cmd+Opt opens the computer in Restore Mode. No way around it.
I think I'll wait until 10.13.4 is released and hope that version will fix those problems.
I have been using Macs since 1986 and it's kind of sad to see this wonderful OS go to pieces, one feature at a time.
