my drafts folder does not show in the sidebar

Hello,

recently I noticed that my drafts folder was missing from the list in the sidebar under Mailboxes. If I search for an email the folder appears but the next time I open my mail, it is not visible. After poking around, I found a drafts folder tucked inside the section that is labeled "on my mac" which is just below the top section. However it does not have any messages in it so it is not the drafts folder that is part of mac mail.

Any thoughts, advice?

Michelle

When mail is composed ( using command and N keys ) , and you fill up the credentials ( Enter mail address in TO and From fields ) and close the compose window ( use keys command and W to close the window ) a pop up window appears .

To save drafts in mails click on save .

But when you quit the mail application the drafts will disappear in mail side bar , in fact they are shown as in menu bar .

Hello Luis, I think using the word 'template' was misleading. I do not mean it in the sense of a true template. Sometimes I will create a draft with content I know I want to send, but I'm not ready to send it just then. But I may have copied some content to include in my future email and do not want to lose track of it. I should have used a different word ;-)

Thank you for taking the time to reply and help me.

Drafts are not templates. Drafts are those messages that you started composing but have not (yet) sent.

For me, drafts do NOT disappear when Mail is quit; but they do disappear when I send them.

You could make a feature request to Apple, asking them to implement some form of templates in Mail. You could also save the template using e.g. TextEdit and copy and paste as needed.
