RX560 graphics card

Hi, I've just bought a replacement Mac, transferred everything and it has an ATI Radion RX560 card installed. It had High Sierra OS and I updated it to the latest available . It won't wake up from sleep and I've done a search and there are many forums saying it is a bug in the latest update, but it can be sorted by using a program called KextUtility. I've downloaded it but can't see anything when I've installed it. I have no idea what it is. Then there is another forum saying you need to use WhateverGreen.kext and Lilu, again I have no idea what they are, what they do and how I should use them. Also that I need to uninstall SIP, which I think opens up my network to malware. I'm lost, do I wait for an update to the operating system for Apple to fix it (hoping it is imminent), do I purchase a different graphics card, do I throw the thing in the bin, do I wipe the disk and put El Capitan on? The whole episode seems to have been running for several months so I presume Apple are not too bothered sorting this?

Can you cut-and-paste and post the report that's output by Etrecheck here, for a look at the current hardware and software configuration of this Mac Pro?

If you want to downgrade after a failed patch, make an external backup or three, and restore from Time Machine prior to the update, or download and reinstall High Sierra from the Mac App Store (if you don't have an installer already around), and try again.

If you search for RX560 card sleep problem with High Sierra all the forums appear with their fixes, except I have no idea what they are talking about. I've now found that unplugging the card allows it to sleep and wake up.

Most of the discussions I’ve located are related to running on non-Apple hardware, and thats’s not fodder for discussions here, and those configurations sometimes have issues specific to the not-Apple hardware and firmware in use. Do you have some pointers to existing discussions you’re referencing and that are confusing you?

In general, I’d remove CleanMyMac per the vendor instructions. Some of the cleaning tools around have been reported to cause instabilities and corruptions. Sometimes removal isn’t enough, and reloading macOS again can be required To recver from some of the corruptions.

I’d consider removing LittleSnitch as a test, per the vendor instructions. That’s probably not the trigger here, but add-on kexts and anti-malware and cleaning tools and such can all be good suspects when something goes weird With macOS.

I’d also try the SMC and NVRAM resets, and would also boot and test sleep and wake in Safe Mode, as those will clear saved state and settings related to power management and enfirnment, and Safe Mode will disable most add-ons and rebuild the boot-time caches. That should all be harmless, too.

The downgrade sequence is as was described earlier; roll in a Time Machine backup, or reload an earlier version of High Sierra. I’d have an external backup or three before proceeding here, as it’s possible a rollback or a reinstallation might end up corrupting something.
