cold boot macbook pro laptop asks for update always locks

We have a new mbp 2017 with the touchbar.

When every device is plugged in the mac starts up in a special mode asking for an update. Its asking to connect to wifi to after that. After this it always fails. If we disconnect devices it goes back to normal and even when plugging it all back in its ok until the next mult hour cold boot. Any ideas?

We have all usb c. 1 usb c mult adpatyer. within that ethernet, usb reg for ext hd. and thurderbolt for monitor.

iPhone 7, iOS 10.0.2

If all is well with all peripherals disconnected then I suggest trying one peripheral at a time to see what happens. This may help identify what is happening. It may be you have an uninstalled update.

Alst night we prepared for power outages by shutting everything off and plugging it back in today. Same thing just ocurred so we know its cold boot only. We areo checking excremental devices. All internel hardware passed. Any other thoughts?

Maybe stop using "excremental" devices. 😁😁 Make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar for service. If you need to find an Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple.

Ok. I will test.

If its an uninstalled update. Would it not be listed in the app store. App store says all updates are done.

Uninstalled updates should be listed in App Store except for silent ones pushed to you by Apple behind the scenes. The alert may refer to an update for one of your peripherals.
