Emails in mail showing notification but not in inbox?

I have my Exchange email synced to mail. I get the notifications in the top right of the new emails coming in, however when I open the mail app, they are not there. If I click on the notification, I can get to the email, but otherwise, I am unable to locate it.

How can I get my emails to appear again? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
