Music app constantly loses queue (iOS 11)

every time i build a queue of music on my iPhone 7, music plays fine... but then whenever I go back into my phone after a break, the whole queue has somehow disappeared. this happens every single time. I've tried everything... restarting phone, updating iOS, etc etc

this has happened quite a lot over the years with the music app, but it seemed to have been fixed in the last few updates, but now it's back to being virtually unusable. really, really annoying.

if there's no fix to this problem, can someone please recommend a better music app??
