Songs not adding to iTunes library

I have just performed a clean install of High Sierra and am in the process of setting it all back up. Part of that process is re-adding my music to the iTunes library. For some reason, iTunes is only adding some songs and refusing others. These albums have been played in iTunes for the last 5 years and they are all mp3 format. Some albums are missing any number of songs, and other entire albums are missing. There is absolutely no reason for it. I have tried Add to Library, dragging and dropping and right clicking the song; nothing will work. Why is this happening and how can it be rectified?

Thanks for your help!

For some tracks that don't want to add try copying into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder in your media folder. The tracks will either be added and moved where iTunes thinks they belong, or the will be moved into a Not Added subfolder, which will at least confirm that iTunes is rejecting those files rather than simply ignoring you.
