Time Machine question

I have 3 Mac Books, all backed up on a Time Machine. I need to recover some files from My Husbands back up but on my Machine, his no longer exists. I do not want to recover his whole machine, most of his files were on the cloud.

Back up certain folders on a Windows computer My boss wants us to keep a copy of our files in his secretary's computer (it runs on Windows 7) so he can have access to everything without having to ask us. That also mean I HAVE to use Word and Excel. Also, the computer they gave me is so slow I had to bring my MacBook to work with. I tried moving all my work-related files over to her computer and working from it instead of my HD but that is also very slow and Word/Excel always ask for my authorization before opening a "remote file". This strategy also meant I had to either copy the whole lot of files or keep a record of the new files I generate and the ones that I change in order to only copy those files. Is there a way to have my MacBook back up only the files pertinent to my work on said remote Windows 7 hard drive? Maybe have scheduled backups so I don't have to keep a record of the new files I generate or the ones that I change in order to copy them? Thank you in advance for your help.

Access to time machine backups on I teach digital media and have a lab full of 2017-2020 iMacs. One of my older Macs needs a repair, so the two students who use it will need to be on another computer temporarily. (At least, that's what we hope.) We back up all the computers to individual external hard drives using Time Machine. My question is this: when we take the ailing computer in for service, how can my students get access to the content on their user ID stored on the hard drive when they are using a different computer. (I don't want to migrate all of it over. This isn't a new computer that they are using; it's just a temporary fix.) I know there is a work-around. I just don't know what it is.

reestore an external disc I aim using time machine for backup. I have connected a usb hub and connected a specific external drive to it only to be used as a dive containing a community books that I user. The drive has been corrupted and I reformatted the drive. I wasn't to resort from a backup on a certain date. The backup drive (another external drive that I only use for backups) shows the backup was done on a certain date, but when I go into Time Machine, the disk is greyed out. What is the correct way to recover the files; there is some 400 files.
