How can I add “favorite” icons to my Safari web startup page? They used to be there, but disappeared.

How can I add “favorite” icons to my Safari web startup page? They used to be there, but disappeared.

Safari > Preferences > Smart Search Field
Enable “Show Favorites”.
“View your Favorites from the Smart Search field: Click in the Smart Search field to see your favorite websites, then click the icon of the website you want to visit. The Favorites view goes away if you start typing, and it doesn’t appear if you click the field while you’re viewing the Favorites or Top Sites page.”

If you are wanting them in the menu/tab bar that shows the title of the page that is loaded, they have been removed.
Thanks for your reply. You must be on a MAC. I am on an iPad, so I don’t see a Smart Search Field. fpatton
Tap the search bar/address bar.
The entry in the the search bar should get highlighted and Favorites should appear below the address bar.
The favorites page doesn't appear?
