iCloud Photo Library Update on Win 10 caused high CPU usage

The above issue is still persistent with the current version … will this be addressed as it completely blocks all other tasks and makes the computer relatively slow.

I need to keep iCloud Photo disabled to have it running properly.

The Photos app crashes when I try to enable iCloud A few weeks ago, the Photos app on my MacBook stopped getting my latest photos. The photos were getting from my iPhone to the iCloud, but were not syncing to my MacBook. This was after several months of all syncing working well. To remedy the problem it was my intent to disable, then re-enable iCloud for Photos on my MacBook. FYI, I have several other iCloud data stores including Contacts, Drive, Notes, etc, which are syncing properly. The problem: I open Photos preferences and select "iCloud Photo Library" (see first attached pic). A dialog box first tries to up-sell me more disk space (even though I have twice what I need at 50 GB). Upon selecting 'Continue' from that dialog (see 2nd picture), the Photos app crashes immediately. This has been going on for several weeks. I've been waiting / hoping for a software update to fix this but no luck. Today is March 23, 2021. I'm running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6. Photos application Version 3.0 (3291.13.230) All software is up-to-date. Help appreciated.

No option to download photos. Windows 10, iCloud 10 Hello all. I have been searching for some time, cannot figure this one out. New Windows 10 machine, (May 2020,) all updates installed. iCloud 10 from Microsoft store installed. The iCloud settings dialog Photos, Options, only has ‘iCloud Photo Library,’ and ‘iCloud Photo Sharing,’ as options to check. Nothing else. The status screen always shows ‘updating.’ There is no ‘download’ button. There is no download folder. I have removed and reinstalled iCloud, enabled and disabled Photo Library etc.. Nothing has changed on this one machine. Have not seen this before. Did another program replace a necessary DLL, is something not registered properly? Thanks in advance.

Restoring iCloud connection to photos in external drive After successfully setting up the external hard rive and getting ready to set the process of switching System Photo Library, I get this message: "Switching the System Photo Library will turn off iCloud Photos. Any photos and videos that have not been fully downloaded will be removed from this Mac and Shared Albums will be disabled. Turn on iCloud Photos for this new System Photo Library in Preferences." I am hesitant to continue. HOW DO I TURN ON iCLOUD PHOTOS? WHERE IS THAT SCREEN LOCATED? I GET NERVOUS WITH PHOTOS....THANKS
