Spacebar random double/ghost press on Macbook Pro 2016

I have a 2016 Macbook Pro (with touchbar) and for the last few months, the spacebar will automatically 'press' itself at random times when I am typing. This is incredibly frustrating and happens about 1 in 3 times of pressing the spacebar, resulting in random extra spaces in my sentences.

Does anyone else have this problem and is there a fix???
