Hide Updates for Cancelled Purchases Mac App Store?

I cannot hide updates for a cancelled purchase in Mac App Store.

Because it does not appear in "purchased", I cannot turn off the updates using that method.

App Store forces me to see the updates every time the developer issues a (frequent) update.

So, how, with one or two clicks, to simply turn off App updates for a cancelled purchase that was once downloaded?

(P.S. not interested in the techy "search all your hard disks and time machine backups malarky")
