iMessage Authentication Fail

FaceTime and iMessage haven't been working on my laptop for a while and each time I try to sign in it says 'iMessage Authentication Fail' or 'An error occurred during activation. Try again'. It also doesn't work on my iPod and says 'Error occurred during FaceTime activation' (even if signing into iMessage). Any ideas?

keep getting error message for authorization process when I try to connect to imessages it says error during authorization. I have tried a few different things too. My FaceTime is now working but what am I doing wrong or is this something the apple store will have to look at? Unfortunately I don't have an Apple Store any where near me. I'm praying this will be a simple fix that can be handled with a few simple steps,

Ipad - Imessage and Facetime error logging on Cannot log into Imessage and Facetime - Error is "Facetime Activation - Unable to contact the Facetime Server. Try Again." Had this ipad and everything was working until recently. This is the error message for the last 3-4 weeks. Asks for my id and password and then after a minute or so, get the above message. Ipad is logged on (can see on my laptop that ipad is connected when I log into my apple account). Just backed up a few minutes ago, manually, and was successful.
