keep getting error message for authorization process

when I try to connect to imessages it says error during authorization. I have tried a few different things too. My FaceTime is now working but what am I doing wrong or is this something the apple store will have to look at? Unfortunately I don't have an Apple Store any where near me. I'm praying this will be a simple fix that can be handled with a few simple steps,

MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.12
