Inconsistent Brightness

My iphone X’s screen brightness suddenly becomes dark, like 0% brightness, while I am using it. Checked in brightness settings on control center and it’s almost 50%. Doesn’t help if I try to slide up or down. It will only go back after few more adjustments/slidings.

Sounds like you have Auto-Brightness on, and the brightness will change based on the ambient lighting. See this to turn off the setting if you wish. Go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Display Accommodations>Auto-Brightness.
