EarPods don't work in my iPhone but they do in a friend's

I have an iPhone 6S, and today my EarPods stopped working in my phone. However, I tried them in my friend's iPhone 6S Plus and they work fine. I tried twisting the EarPods around in the headphone jack, but I still don't get any sound.
