Cannot Update Shared Photo Stream

Hi all,

I am suddenly unable to add new photos to my shared photo stream. I have tried from three devices, and none work any longer.

On a desktop/laptop, the sharing progress circle in Photos appears, but never advances.

I am nowhere near the hourly sharing limits, and as far as I know there is no overall limit (the stream is just short of 5000 images).

I have read the Apple advice page and found no answer.

I have repaired permissions, restarted, etc...

I have closed Photos and killed the photo agent from the Activity Monitor.

Now I am out of ideas - thanks for any new ones!

oh yeah, that explains it - I meant the shared photo stream, but it does appear we have reached that limit too:

Shared album storage limits

A shared album can hold up to 5000 photos and videos. If you reach your iCloud Photo Sharing limit, you need to delete some photos or videos before adding new ones. The photos and videos you share (and the comments or likes associated with those photos) stay in iCloud until you or the contributor delete them manually, or until you delete the shared album completely.

The photos and videos in your shared albums are kept in iCloud, but they don't count against your iCloud storage limit.

Thanks!

Photo Stream does have a hard limit. 30 days or 1000 photos, whichever occurs first. It should self manage though and just start rolling over when you hit the limits.

Are you referring to a Shared Album? They too have limits
