SSD partitions «de-partitioning»

Sorry if this has been answered before...


Long story short:


Upgraded my HD to an SSD. I formatted the new drive (GUID Partition Map) with 2 partitions but realized I didn't need it.


So I removed the 2nd partition and now my hard drives is one new 100% capacity single partition. (No data was on the 2nd partition when I removed it)


QUESTION:


Was that a completely 100% safe operation to do in regards to the data on the main partition?
Should I reclone my drive from my fresh backup or am I free to move along and trust that nothing corrupted my main partition?
