Why can’t I download or update apps without billing info when they are free
If I try to download or update a free app. It asks for billing info. Without it I can’t download or update any apps
You need to select that you don't have/want a payment option.
- Open Settings → iTunes & App Stores
- Tap View Apple ID → Payment Information
- Select None as the payment type
If you're not able to select None or the None option is not present for you to select, there are some possible reasons as to why this is the case:
- Unpaid balance
- Changed country/region
- Family Sharing management
