Ipod touch screen curling / bowing / lifting out of main body

I have an iPod touch 6th generation.

Operating the screen controls causes rainbow like interference lines to appear quickly however there does not appear to be any detriment to the actual unit, other than the gaps and light showing from the edges. As shown belowUser uploaded file

It works perfectly okay but the screen is bowing out of the back plate case and pushing the screen into place does not work.

It's almost like the case has shrunk forcing the screen out of the securing clips, along both long sides.

Is this a common situation, and has anybody else had and fixed this?

I would suspect your battery is expanding inside. If it were mine I’d back it up to save your data then make an appointment at an apple store to have it checked out. In fact if you don’t want to risk plugging it in to sync, then mail or upload pertinent data off it without plugging it in.

DO NOT try to charge it. And honestly I would be very careful where you store it in the meantime. Batteries are great and wonderful things but they can fail rather spectacularly so i would definitely deal with the situation sooner rather than later.

You’ve seen the videos of the batteries in ecigs exploding....i am not saying that will happen, i’m just saying batteries don’t often get the respect they deserve.
