In a situation like this there are essentially four possibilities, I think, Trixi:
1) the discs themselves have become damaged or dirty. Burnt DVD's are more fragile than commercial pressed ones.
2) the lens of your drive is a bit dirty and having problems reading some material
3) the laser in your drive is losing strength and accordingly having trouble with some material. (this inevitably happens over time, but shouldn't really be rearing its head yet)
4) the drive itself is slightly miscalibrated and this is causing problems with some material , but not others. (the solution for 3 and 4, I'm afraid, with the slot loaders, is essentially a drive replacement)
1 and 2 are the most likely
