My iPad uses 1.06 GB storage vs 238 MB on my iPhone. Is this normal amount of storage use and can it be reduced? I have already deleted all mail from all folders and there is no change in storage used.

Why do you care about 1GB?
My iPad is an older model with only 12GB of memory available so any extra is helpful when I get notice that I'm running out of space.
iPad apps and the iOS for iPads use more storage.
