Question: How can I use yahoo mail as POP account in mac mail High Sierra 10.13.3

How can I use yahoo mail as POP account in mac mail High Sierra 10.13.3. When I add the yahoo account it's already IMAP and I can't change that.

Do the following:

Pick "other mail account"enter your real email address but at the end add a letter like xxx@yahoo.comZ

Enter your actual password

fill out the next screen and remove the last letter "Z" in the email address so now your email is your correct address

and pick POP mail (if you do not do this it may default to IMAP)

enter incoming mail as pop.mail.yahoo.com

enter outgoing mail as smtp.mail.yahoo.com


You will also have to go to your Yahoo mail security settings on the web and change to "less secure" protocol for POP to work correctly. This was a recent change by Yahoo

The settings are coming up as IMAP because that is how it is setup in the mail program that is in the OS. You'll have to go in and manually enter the information and not use the "Yahoo" link when you are adding a new account. If you click on the "Yahoo" link, then you are going to get the settings that have already been setup by Apple to use IMAP. Doing an online search should be able to help get the information that you are going to need for the correct information to get POP.
