I need to use a mouse with my ipad pro. What gives?

I know this has been a question before. Has Apple pulled their head out yet and made it possible to pair a mouse with this thing. I have things to do and little time for what the world will be like in the future. Right now I need a mouse to work with my ipad pro. Or send me some kind of futuristic device that allows me to place my cursor where I want it without having to reach out and touch the **** display everytime i want move something or cut and paste or select an object, etc. The pen has it's moments but touch screens are for drawing not for a replacement to the mouse. I would like a pair of glasses that know exactly what my eyes are looking at within a micron and then when I blink that would place the cursor then I could say "select next word" and it would just do that. You know or,.... maybe for now a mouse....

YES---you can use a mouse. You just have to step outside the bubble.

Swiftpoint GT Mouse.

Imagine that! Someone recognized that there is a world of need out there and created a product to fit the need. Furthermore, worldwide companies, like TEAMVIEWER, spent their own capital in recognition of the need, and created applications to fill the VOID that bubble people can't see.

You can use a select few mice and select remote desktop apps for support in a Remote Desktop session. But that‘s it. You cannot use a mouse in iOS itself, nor for any of the 99.9999% of the 2 million plus non-remote desktop apps in the App Store.

So for those people who are not interested at all in a remote desktop session app and are asking about using a mouse in iOS and iOS Apps, you’re answer is completely off target and simply incorrect.

Apple never believed tablet devices should use mice and trackpads.

And only recently, after 5 years, decided to developed a smart Bluetooth stylus to use with iPads, which contradicted Mr. Steve Jobs about using stylii with iPads and iPhones.

And even though we have the Apple Pencil and other third party stylii to use with iPads and iPhones, now, Mr. Jobs was still right about them.

There is no easy place to keep/store them, people lose them ( many people have lost or misplaced their third party stylii or expensive Apple Pencils or other expensive third party Bluetooth stylii ).

Apple believes otherwise.

See any mice or trackpads?

It's great that you agree with people. What difference does that make? This is a forum to ask questions and get answers. It's been answered hundreds of times that Apple doesn't support mice on iPads. This isn't a forum to debate why as conjecture is against the terms of use we all agreed to when we joined the forum.

Can't we all just agree that everyone is entitled to their belief, hopes, desires and dreams, but they won't come true by posting them here.

We're to understand, Larry, that you are comparing the iOS map fiasco response or the like in this forum to traffic from a simple feature request? Does such a comparison make sense!? No matter -- if anyone is genuinely interested in knowing whether there is significant interest in iOS mouse support or in the iPad as a laptop replacement I refer you to my earlier comment, which links to several high-profile reviews of the new iPad Pro: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8307855?answerId=250192467022#250192467022. Either those pundits are wrong or the ardent naysayers in this thread have misplaced their zeal.

Most agree? I see no evidence at all that of the 350 million or ipads sold, that a majority of users want, or don’t want native mouse support in iOS. Forums and other online discussions simply do not provide significant evidence either way. If anything, the vast majority of iPad owners and users have never expressed an opinion anywhere on the internet.

Apple did not become one of the most valued companies ever by being stupid. I refuse to believe that “most” iPad users want mouse support, have petitioned Apple for it, and yet Apple has refused to implement it. Occam’s razor would counter that clearly, Apple has not received any compelling nor overwhelming user input to deviate from their original touch interface for iOS.

I always find it rather amusing when a member comes here and validates their position as "the" position based on an active thread such as this. They fail to recognize there are millions upon millions of iPad's in the wild, with the vast majority of people giving this subject little to no consideration. I'm not saying many wouldn't add a mouse if they could. Perhaps they would. But it doesn't appear to be a subject the vast majority of users think about.

To illustrate, there are 8 people in my office with an iPad. After responding to a post on this today, I asked them all if they would want mouse support on their iPad. One person said it would be something they'd consider. Three didn't even know it wasn't available for iPad and the 4 others said it simply wouldn't be important to them and they likely wouldn't even if they could. Perhaps I should then draw a conclusion that the "vast majority" don't care about mouse support?

Exactly. Not one word posted in this forum will have the slightest impact on Apple's decisions regarding mouse support. I don't care either way. Now that I have the Apple Pencil 2, all the needs for which I choose the iPad as a tool are met. I have a Windows laptop from my company for everything else, all of which needs to be done connected to their VPN anyway.

Mar 13, 2019 4:04 PM in response to Gongfermor

I draw no conclusion as to why as I'm not, nor is anyone else here inside the inner sanctum that is Apple. I just know my iPad does not now, nor has it ever had mouse support. I've bought them all (there have been many) with that knowledge. And I'll likely own more in the future. Whether the reason is it will or won't cannibalize laptop sales is completely irrelevant. The reality is there is no mouse support. Either that's acceptable to buyers or its not. It's acceptable to me.

Old data however, we are in 2019 and you forgot about the laptops and desktops which also have mice as well.

In my post I am using a laptop for my remote work. The pen and touch just doesn’t work.

Looking at updating my laptop but cannot use an iPad Pro due to the lack of a mouse.

The iPad is a good device and I have had one since the first version, but it lack this one item which would eliminate the need for my laptop and potentially my desktop.

First if you read the fine print the post are opinions not claims.

Second read IDC reports

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Laptops-to-grow-3-7-percent-in-PC-market-share-by-2022-according-to-IDC.376041.0.html

and

https://mspoweruser.com/the-idc-predicts-surface-pro-style-devices-to-be-the-only-pc-growth-segment/amp/

and if you look at the tablet sales, the total of Apple iPads is only 25% of that.

So mouse based system far exceed Apple iPad Pro sales which is a small portion of total iPad sales.

So why not question why iPad Pro has no mouse?
