airplay lagging

am i the only one that after years still has airplay problems?

i'm talking generations of devices (iphone 5s-6-6s-7-x) apple tv 3-4th gen ipads macbooks even

today on my latest macbook pro , first of all even the airplay symbol in the touch bar doesn't react, second connections drop, delays, difficulties connecting and so on.. looks like a bad beta version after all these years 😟

Even audio to my Harman Kardon Aura speaker trough airplay lags, when i skip the song a bit it takes coupkle seconds.. , ive had several routers, moved a couple times and use an airport extreme now with a descent internet connection so all the trouble shooting i did didn't work, and i doubt it's about any device because of summed up reasons above, they are always all updated to latest software available... i'm about to completely give up on something that's supposed to be so amazing 😟

Also am i wrong to think airplay shouldn't be about a stable internet connection as it connects directly trough your router?

Did you verify the bandwidth of your in-house wifi and/or wired router and/or switch? An old (slow) link in the chain could ‘cripple’ the throughput to less than watchable. Besides your manuals/documentation/web info, Speedtest is available on the web, as a Mac app, as an iOS app, and as tvOS app. IMHO, your LAN shouldn’t limit what your ISP is offering you for bandwidth to the internet.

I find that the Music.app in iOS (iPhone) over Wifi is pretty responsive in collaboration with Apple TV, likewise iTunes playback of local files on a Mac to Apple TV. Although resume and seek not as instantaneous as through the device’s own speakers. Spotify pause/play/seek is much slower (several seconds) for streaming.

There is room for improvement, but giving up is a very strong emotion for a convenient gadget.

I get easily frustrated Hehe.. Ive said a million times I would give up on apple or other tech but still silently hope for better times :) thanks for the tip I'll try the music app, I probably will buy a homepod so that should fix audio anyway but my main problem is things like YouTube or streaming movies from my devices to TV the barely ever work at a level that it's watchable.
