exclamation mark in front of inbox in Apple Mail

I know how to resolve this problem. Go to Accounts and you will see a Google mail account, then remove it and your Apple Mail will return to its correct function without the exclamation mark.

iMac, iOS 5.1

... or enter the correct Gmail account credentials and/or email server information for the account when setting it up to be used in the Mail app. This should get rid of the exclamation mark as well.
