changing email address associated with apps

I changed my Apple ID and email address.

I deleted my apps associated with the old email address.

When I try to reinstall my phone apps, they are still associated with the old email address.

how do I get the apps to associate with the new email?

Apps are forever associated with the Apple ID that was used to buy them. That Apple ID is encoded into the licensed copy that you downloaded. Apple does not merge Apple IDs and Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. You can NEVER associate the apps bought with the old Apple ID with the new Apple ID. Which is why making a new Apple ID is a bad idea.

You will need to repurchase them with the new Apple iD.

Realize there is a difference between changing an Apple ID for an account and creating a new account. Carolfromlethbridge says the email address/Apple ID was changed. That would mean it is the same account. I have been viewing this topic for a while now with the assumption the correct term was used and this is not a matter of a different account being created. Just so it is clear:

Carolfromlethbridge, did you change the Apple ID or did you create a new account?

I'm very aware of the diference between the two. As the long time King of the Hill user in this forum, I have confronted the issue that many users, when faced with having to create a new email account, believe that they mustcreate a new Apple ID and are unaware that they can change the email address associated with their Apple ID. I had to do that myself, which is why I am aware.

I changed my Apple ID and email address.

That implies to me that the user created a new Apple ID. YMMV.

My response is based on my understanding of what the OP stated. YMMV.
