I can't view my folders all greyed out,I can't open them.I see them ,but they look transparent.

I recently updated my MacBook Maverick to MacBook Sierra.My Mac is running slow, and I can't view my folders in downloads or documents they are greyed out ,transparent .I can't open them.

MacBook, iOS 11.0.3, Sierra

Folders "greyed out ' Big Sur i mac 2020 Some of my folders are greyed out . They are fully functional but just so hard to read. Sometime after a second or 2 they will "light up" or if i click on one folder the rest will light up.You can see the folders on the right side are faded out ..If I wait they will eventually "light up" of I click one one they all become clear..It's very annoying ..Any help would be appreciated. Documents, Downloads and Desktop folders are suddenly gone I'm on a MacBook Pro 14, it's about 6 months old. A few days ago my Desktop, Downloads and Documents folders all disappeared. When I navigate to my username folder in the HD tab, this is what I see: Those are aliases where the master folder should be. I have spent quite a bit of time on the phone with apple customer service but they had no answers for me. Has anyone else had this issue?

Files and folders view Why can't you remove or add to files and folders view ? The "+" (plus) & "-" (minus) buttons are greyed out even with the pane unlocked. (Attached) - MacOS 10.15.2
