Question: Mighty Mouse 2 and wired mouse opening command or option windows when clicking

I am running 10.13.3 on a late 2015 iMac.

4 GHz Intel Core i7; 32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3; Bluetooth vers. 6.0.2f2

I use Ableton Live 10, although this problem often persists when using Safari:

I will click on anything, and either the window expected from an option-click, or a control-click appears, and won't go away for a dozen or more clicks. Then Mighty Mouse use runs as expected for ten minutes or more, then the annoying issue returns. There seems to be little pattern to this, save switching applications. But this works infrequently.

I had heard that debris can accumulate in the mouse itself, and cleaning it can help. Yet switching to a different Mighty Mouse -- or even a wired mouse -- can bring the same result, albeit less frequently with a wired mouse. I attend music school, and I would have heard if this was an Ableton issue. In fact, this appears to be a recurring issue with several generations of iMacs.

I was considering upgrading iMacs even after two years, but nothing makes me believe this problem would be resolved.

On top of it, I tried following these (Alan A (macOS High Sierra 10.13) Bluetooth devices disconnects by itself(macOS High Sierra 10.13) Bluetooth devices disconnects by itself) instructions to reset Bluetooth. Now I'm left with no Bluetooth devices working on a $4,000 computer, because when I removed all devices, the debug menu changed.

Answer:

I have on occasion experienced something similar, I just reboot the Mac but I am sure you will have tried that.

So the next thing I would try is installing the 10.3.3 Combo Update from here, Download macOS High Sierra 10.13.3 Combo Update it will do no harm installing this, it does reset some system files and caches and this may be enough to

solve your problem. Another thing to look at is if you are running any software that modifies the behaviour of the mouse.
