Can't mute audio globally in FCPX? Seriously !?
Seriously !?
Seriously !?
Sometimes when editing or trimming the footage, you don't want to hear the FCPX audio.
Sometimes I need to make few quick tests to see what music will match my footage. I don't want to buy the music just yet, only to preview it quickly on YouTube or Spotify.
Why on earth can't I mute FCPX internal Master fader !?

One way you can silence your timeline: open the Timeline Index (cmd-shitf-2) and uncheck the appropriate audio roles. That is even better than a master control, since for example you can keep the dialog on, and turn off music, or effects, or any combination of roles.
Thank you Luis,
But how about when I'm trimming (and the footage is not you on the timeline), and I want to experiment with different music outside of FCPX. do you know of any option to lower the volume of the audio that is coming from the raw footage?
Thank you
Thanks Meg Dog, but that's if I have the music already on the timeline. I need this feature when I'm trimming and sorting and don't wanna hear all this junk, while previewing possible music tracks for my videos.
Thank you though!
Globally? in the Timeline or for everything you ever do in FCP X?
Al
You’d have to use a different device to play the music, maybe a smart phone.
Shame on Apple, such a basic feature, every NLE has that
