YouTube's video freezes while audio doesn't

Hello,

It's been happening to me for a while that whenever I want to watch some YouTube's content, the video just freezes if I don't move the mouse through the screen every 3 seconds, which is annoying. I have no idea why this is happening. Everything is updated. My computer only has a few months since I bought it.

Thankyou very much.

MacBook Pro, iOS 10.3.3, null

Hi Arquidiocesano19,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand that when you try to watch a YouTube video on your Mac you have to move your mouse every few seconds in order to keep the video from freezing. I can see why you'd reach out for assistance with this; I'm happy to help. First, if you haven't already, close the browser you're using and restart your Mac. If the behavior continues I'd suggest that if you're using a browser other than Safari, check to see if YouTube works in Safari. Or, if you are using Safari, try a different browser (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera) to see if the behavior is the same.

If you're able to view YouTube videos in one browser over another you can check to see if there are any extensions that may be affecting the performance of videos on YouTube. This link will help you to find these for Safari: Install and manage Safari extensions on your Mac

Should you continue to have trouble could you let me know which browser you're using to view YouTube videos?

Best Regards.

Hi Alex

Restarting the computer works, and once restarted I can watch YouTube videos without them freezing. The problem is, it shouldn't happen, and I shouldn't restart the computer every time I want to visit YouTube.

Now; this doesn't only happen on YouTube; the other night I discovered that the same thing happened while watching Netflix. I restarted the computer and the problem was gone. This makes me think that it is not a YouTube-related issue; maybe something to do with Flash or with the browser itself.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Flash, and the problem persists.

The browser I use is Safari. I haven't installed nor used any other.
