is it possible to make your monitor have "more space" like the one in native monitor

Hi!

is it possible for an external monitor to have the "more space" option like the option in your built in screen?

I want more space for my external monitor but i think its the resolution of the monitor thats the problem? its only 1080p, but i dont see how making the icons smaller and having making more space would matter with respect to the resolution.

I know that increasing your resolution would make more space but since its only 1080p, is there something i could do to just make it kind of do the same thing as making things smaller? Maybe even a 3rd party app
