leaving mail on server in high sierra

I am running a Mac Mini with 10.13.3

My mail is set up as Imap with Time warner

my wifes computer (windows 7, outlook for mail) cannot find recent mail after I read them.
There used to be a check box to leave messages on server, but it is gone in HS.

What am I missing (besides a clue)?

Mac mini, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

IMAP automatically leaves emails on the server. The setting you are referring to is used with POP email accounts not IMAP accounts. IMAP allows all devices accessing an email account to access the same emails since the emails are left on the server. The IMAP emails are synchronized across all devices. So if an email is read on your computer it will also be marked read on your wife's computer. Check your email settings on your email provider's web page and make sure you have not configured the server to delete emails from the server after some period of time.
