Question: Ios calendar sync google calendar

I am having a problem with google calendar syncing with apple calendars. Problem began recently, but not sure of exact date. Symptoms:

-google calander is my master calendar and looks fine when viewed on host PC or through the Google Calendar app.

-Events on Google calendar are not visable on Iphone, or Macbook calendar. However, they are visable on IPad. Iphone and Ipad are on same level IOS 11.2.2 awaiting 11.3 due to reported issues. Macbook is up to date too.

-New events entered on all devices do appear on Google calendar and on Iphone, however, calendar changes seem to cause some other events to disappear randomly from IPhone.

-All standard resolutions on iphone have failed.

iPhone 6s, iOS 11.2.2

I came across this thread while researching the same issue for a client of mine. Her symptoms seem to have been triggered after the Mac had a period of inability to connect to the Google server which resulted in the Calendar app giving some error messages. After that the Mac (10.13.3) has worst symptoms of non-sync to server, but iPhone (11.2.6) is also intermittently failing to sync or taking a very long time.

Non-syncing is one symptom but worryingly, as mentioned above, there are also symptoms of entered events disappearing.

My belief is that the underlying sync engine (potentially on both the Mac & iPhone) is then getting tangled with one or several corrupted calendar entries. I don't have any proven resolution as yet but am proceeding down the track of exporting all calendar items, then completely clearing the devices & Google account of all calendar entries & then re-importing.

Temporary work around for my client is to use web browser interface to Google calendar on her Mac and the Google Calendar app on her iPhone.

I'd be happy to hear from anybody else who has a definitive solution.

Thanks Kiwi. I saw where people were thinking it was a corrupted gmail calendar causing the problems. Given that, I went back in the iphone calendar and saw that the syncing had stopped as of Jan 1, 2016. I thought that was odd so I looked at the host to see what the first entry was on the host calendar. I noticed it was an entry with an icon in the event name (🍰). I had used that icon to reflect birthdays. I have seen data problems over the years where unusual characters caused unexpected unusual program behaviour. Anyway, I scrubbed the calendar of those characters and attempted the resync. It did a little better, but it still isn‘t working right. For now, I am using a few workarounds until someone figures this out.

I am pretty sure it’s iphone operating system or firmware problem. All it takes to get the sync back is powering iPhone down and up. Just remember that you will lose all the new calendar entries you added on iPhone which are not on the web (pc or Mac) so write those down. The only issue for me for now is I don’t notice when it stops syncing so I tend to lose appointments
