Messages do not show up on lock screen at night

I have an iPhone X and have had it ever since they came out, I just recently started having this problem where my text messages I receive at night don't show up on the lock screen, only in the message app... this is weird because its only when I sleep, like if im awake at 2am and just sitting up the text come in fine, but if im asleep at 2am with my phone not in use and charging I won't see the text and will discover them the next morning, its extremely frustrating... I have tried turning my phone on and off, do not disturb is not on... no idea how to fix
