My mouse randomly selects folders on desktop MacBook Pro. It will select several at a time. How can I fix this?
ln September while using trackpad it became Irratic; so I turned it off so I could start using the Mouse. Now the mouse has become Irratic A

Check this out. Go to Systems Prefs > Accessibility > Mouse and trackpad and if the box against 'Ignore trackpad etc' is checked, uncheck it.

Try an SMC Reset per the instructions here. You may well have to do it three or more times in succession.
This only works when using mouse; unable to use track pad to navigate. Cursor became very erratic and uncontrollable; I had to force a shut down
