"Refresh" Podcasts Isn't Timely or Accurate -- iTunes 12.7.3

I use iTunes as my Podcast player on my desktop Mac.

Podcasts to which I subscribe often / usually update way after they are published. I have to go in to the library and hit "Refresh."

Is there a way I can "speed up" iTunes checking / updating my Podcasts?

Why is iTunes downloading duplicates of all my podcasts? I have saved copies of all my podcasts on my Macbook Pro. Today, iTunes duplicated every one of the podcasts, and started downloading them again! Why? How do I make it stop? I don't want to lose my saved podcasts. And, I don't use the cloud, or have another connected device. Just this computer. So what is going on? I still can't get them to play automatically in the correct order (oldest to newest) no matter WHAT setting, but that's been a problem since 2000.

podcast wanting to re-download Hello! I have a small but weird issue that's really grinding my gears. Occasionally when I open iTunes, podcasts that I have already downloaded will show the cloud symbol next to them and need to be downloaded again. Has anyone seen this behaviour before? It's not the end of the world except I backup my local iTunes library to a NAS and then point my Sonos at it so my backup is constantly removing the tracks and reading them once I have re-downloaded them. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions!

SquareSpace Podcast Not Updating in iTunes I recently created a new podcast on SquareSpace and was just approved by Apple Podcasts. I am also on Skitcher and Google Music. When I go to the iTunes page for my podcast there is only one episode listed despite there being four in total. Skitcher and Google show all four, but only one is showing in iTunes.
