How do I eject a disc from my USB Superdrive with no disc icon displayed?

Have a DVD stuck in my USB Superdrive. There is no disc icon being displayed on the screen. I dragged the disc icon to what I believed to be the eject icon, but ended up putting it in the trash. Now it's gone forever with the disc still in the drive.
