How can I get my iMessage special effects to work on my iPhone 8 and the Reduce Motion is turned off

I have an iPhone 8 running iOS 11.2.6 for some weird reason the iMessage special effects has stopped working and I’ve checked the Reduce Motion function and it’s off. Does anyone know how I can get it to work again? I’ve also tried doing a hard reset by turning the phone off and on.

iMessage landscape mode left column When I use iMessage in landscape mode it doesn’t show the left column window that should show the messages thread. My other iPhone (Xr) has the message thread on the left side so does my wife’s iPhone 13 Pro Max. Why doesn’t it look the same on my iPhone 14 Pro? I’ve tried everything from resetting all the settings and total reformat of the phone.
