Maps App draining battery

This just started happening within the past 6 months, but when I use the Maps app on my iphone 6 it drains very fast. I never had this issue when I first got the phone and I haven't changed any settings.

Last week I bought the new battery replacement in my phone in hopes it would help. This morning on my drive to work I tested for 7 minutes when using maps how much battery it would use. 10% was gone in 7 minutes. That is a little extreme and means I cannot use Maps for a half hour drive without draining over 1/3 of my battery!

Does this happen to be because of a new iOS update that made a change to Maps? Should I go back with my battery if its a default at all? (Also should these battery replacements be new batteries, or are they "refurbished new"??) I feel like this replacement has the same drain as my older one.
