Newbie needing help! Having issues while trying to record vocals

Using a brand new MacBook Pro 15' with touch bar and Logic Pro X.

I am in the process of upgrading all my equipment and trying to graduate from using Garageband to Logic Pro X. While the two programs are similar, Logic is definitely a lot more complicated for me. Right now I'm transferring all my songs from Garageband on my old computer over to the new computer and into Logic. At the moment I'm trying to re-record all my vocals with a new audio interface (Universal Audio Arrow) and a new mic (Rhode K2 condenser microphone).

Before, I was using a Tascam US-144 mkII for my interface which didn't have a control console so using this new interface and having a control console that does mixing and preamp options outside of the DAW is confusing to me.

My problem:

When I try to record vocals on my existing vocal tracks the entire song's audio is recorded onto the track on top of what I am recording. At first I thought It was just the headphones bleeding over into the recording but I tried unplugging them and it still records the entire audio of the song onto the vocal track. Even when I make a brand new track with nothing on it (no plugins, no effects, nothing) it still does the same thing.

Also, when I am recording I can't hear any of the plug ins or effects I have placed on the track in logic while I am recording. Only after I've recorded something are the effects applied and even then I have the rest of the song's audio bleeding over into the track so it's hard to tell they are there.

I'm not sure if this is a Logic issue or an issue with my interface but I'm kind of at my wits end here. I just want to get back to work and finish this album. 😟
