How to add number to “reachable at” in settings

it says my phone is able to receive verification codes but when I go to add my number to “reachable at” in the name, phone numbers, email settings i add my number and it says it sent a code but I never get one.

‘Reachable at’ has a different meaning. It is how others can search for you: “Adding contact information helps friends and family reach you using iMessage, FaceTime, Game Center, and more.”


Verification codes are send to the ‘Trusted phone numbers’ in the Security section at appleid.apple.com. You can change or add numbers there. “Trusted phone numbers are used to verify your identity when signing in and to recover your account if you lose access.”
