“Storage almost full”-pop up despite lots of space

“Storage almost full”-pop up despite lots of space

I get this pop up every now and then when opening Photos, and get to choose to optimize storage on iPhone by keeping optimized photos on my iPhone and full resolution in the cloud. Even though a have 39GB free space on my 256GB iPhone X. That doesn’t seem right? Solution?

Then turn off the "Optimize iPhone Storage" option on your device. See the "Store your photos and videos in iCloud" section in:

In order to conserve space on the device, it is advised to use the Optimize Phone Storage feature as iCloud stores the original in iCloud and, with the Optimize Phone Storage feature, a lower resolution on the device.
